The 21st of March is celebrated by the European bedding industry as the 'International Day of Sleep'. Hilding Anders, owners of Slumberland, have noticed an increased awareness on sleep quality, bed comfort and overall health and so puts further efforts into research and development that will lead to enhanced sleep. Over the last couple of years, discussions about the importance of sleep quality for the overall health have become more common. Hilding Anders is conducting continuous research on sleep quality and takes into consideration factors such as temperature, firmness, sleeping patterns, and sleeping habits when developing new products. Snoring is also a factor that has an impact of the quality of sleep and that is taken into consideration in the company's product development.
The industry organisation EBIA also recognises 'International Day of Sleep' and presents study results on sleep and bed products. The study confirms that a correlation between a new mattress and sleep quality exists. The study verifies that a new mattress has a direct positive effect on persons who suffer from back pain and/or sleep problems. The recommendation is therefore to change the mattress every 7 to 10 years.
The study shows a result that we have been aware of for a long time, says Pia Rasmussen, R&D Director at Hilding Anders. The big difference is that we now see actual proof of how important it is to change the mattress with certain regularity, Pia Rasmussen continues. Our beds are well adjusted to offer the comfort that is needed to obtain the important sleep quality. As Europe's and Asia's leading bed and mattress manufacturer we see it as our task to take these issues seriously. We will act as a driving force to develop and deliver products that offer the best possible conditions for obtaining sleep quality, Pia Rasmussen concludes.
