Our team of award-winning bed experts are also on hand to answer any further questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-are-all-mattresses-vegan\">Are all mattresses vegan?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most mattresses, unless intentionally made vegan, typically have products causing them to not be 100% vegan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-makes-a-mattress-not-vegan\">What makes a mattress not vegan?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fillings such as wool and feather, often housed inside the mattress and in the cover of a mattress, are easy to spot when looking at whether a mattress is vegan or not. However, other less obvious signs that often require a bit of investigation before buying a mattress include looking at whether the mattress includes materials made with certain chemical processes that include testing on animals. Polyurethane foams, synthetic foams, polyester, blend of fillings with polyester, latex blends and chemical flame retardants, for example, if involved in the mattress making process, would all make a mattress not vegan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Non vegan mattresses will contain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Animal byproducts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blend of fillings with polyester<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chemical flame retardants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chemicals (for example adhesives between mattress layers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Latex blends<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Polyurethane foams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Synthetic foams<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-to-look-for-when-buying-a-new-vegan-mattress\">What to look for when buying a new vegan mattress<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We recognise that trying to find a vegan mattress can be a minefield as many mattresses contain synthetic memory foam or chemically-manufactured polyester. Not to mention the fact that many mattresses claim to be vegan when in fact they are not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mattresses made using no products derived from animals are considered vegan mattresses, Furthermore, they typically include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bamboo fibres -used in the comfort layers, supplying a super-soft, luxurious fibre.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cocolok &#8211; a great alternative to horsehair. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coir &#8211; offers similar rebound properties to horsehair <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cotton &#8211; typically used as a comfort layer. Supplies a softer feel than polyester. (However, if the cotton has been treated with chemicals then it goes against this. The manufacturing label will clearly state if it is organically certified.) <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flax &#8211; a great insulator, often replaces Cashmere<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hemp &#8211; used as an insulator, offers a firmer layer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Natural latex &#8211; a great replacement for wool, typically used as a comfort layer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tampico &#8211; a Mexican Agave fibre<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-good-night-s-sleep-begins-with-a-great-bed\">A good night&#8217;s sleep begins with a great bed!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting quality sleep is one of the most crucial factors when trying to keep or improve your health. A mattress can be a huge contributing factor to whether you achieve a good night\u2019s sleep, yet it is something many overlook.
