  Long-double mattresses measure 4’ 6” x 6’ 6” (135cm x 200cm).

• How big is a long-double mattress compared to a traditional double mattress?

  A long-double mattress is 10cm longer than a traditional double mattress. They are both 4’ 6” (135cm) wide.

• Is a long-double bed longer than a traditional double bed?

  Yes, while a long-double bed is the same width as a traditional double bed, it is 10cm longer.

• Is a long-double mattress big enough for two people?

  Yes, as the name implies, a long-double mattress is designed to sleep two people. They are not however recommended for couples who like to share the bed with their children or pets as space will be compromised. Where floor space is not an issue, we do recommend buying as large a bedframe and mattress as the floor space allows as this will supply the more sleeping surface for both sleepers.

• Can you put two long single mattresses on a long-double bed?

  No. Two long single mattresses put together will make a sleeping surface that measures six’ (180cm) in width whereas a long-double bed frame is designed to hold a mattress measuring four’ 6” (135cm), meaning there will be a size discrepancy.
