A luxury pocket sprung mattress made exclusively for Land of Beds, available in Soft, Medium or Firm tensions, with a dual titanium alloy spring system, 100% natural foam-free fillings and effective, all-natural temperature regulation.
This mattress is offered in three tensions, so you can choose the feel that suits you best. Each tension is detailed separately below.
Our softest tension, designed for maximum comfort and pressure relief. Ideal for side sleepers, this feel allows shoulders and hips to gently sink into the mattress for a cushioned, cosy night's sleep.

HD Pocket Springs
What it is: 6,500 HD titanium alloy pocket springs, the world's first HD spring made with lightweight titanium alloy. Each mini pocket spring works completely independently, giving three-dimensional support.
How it helps you sleep: These springs adapt to your body's contours to relieve pressure and give greater comfort and lumbar support, whichever way you sleep. They're also good for the mattress itself, helping the fillings push back into their original position after use.
Advanced Cortecâ„¢ Quad Revolution Pocket Springs
What it is: 1,000 spring-within-a-spring pocket springs, where a smaller inner spring nests inside a larger outer spring, positioned to work alongside the HD spring layer.
How it helps you sleep: The outer spring provides initial softness and comfort, while the inner spring activates under greater pressure to give deeper, more responsive support - tailoring the feel to your body shape and promoting good posture through the night.
Wool and Viscose Blended Layer
What it is: A soft, breathable blend where natural wool combines with smooth viscose.
How it helps you sleep: Provides gentle warmth, excellent moisture control and a silky texture that keeps you feeling fresh throughout the night.
Cotton and Hemp Blended Layer
What it is: A natural blend combining the softness of cotton with the strength and durability of hemp fibres.
How it helps you sleep: Creates a breathable, moisture-wicking layer that helps keep you cool and comfortable, while providing long-lasting support.
Wool and Flax Blended Layer
What it is: A natural blend of wool and flax fibres.
How it helps you sleep: Works together to provide excellent breathability and effective moisture-wicking, helping regulate temperature and keep you feeling fresh for a restful night's sleep.
Ecotex Fibres
What it is: Sustainable fibres made from recycled materials, fully recyclable and Global Recycled Standard accredited.
How it helps you sleep: Provides excellent comfort and support with breathable properties that encourage airflow throughout the mattress, helping maintain a comfortable temperature with added rebound.
Hand Side Stitching
What it is: Two rows of hand side stitching, a traditional technique where upholsterers use long needles and twine to stitch the outer springs to the mattress border.
How it helps you sleep: Extends the sleeping area right to the mattress edge and prevents spring distortion, giving you consistent support across the full surface.
Hand Tufted
What it is: A traditional method of mattress upholstery where the fillings are secured by hand with tufts running from the top of the mattress to the bottom.
How it helps you sleep: Keeps fillings evenly distributed and firmly in place, maintaining consistent comfort and preventing lumps from forming over time.
Chemical Free Wool Cover
What it is: A naturally safe and fire-resistant cover made from 50% wool, 50% viscose, produced without chemical treatments.
How it helps you sleep: Provides a fresh, healthy sleeping surface free from harmful chemicals, keeping the mattress feeling clean night after night.
Flag-Stitched Handles
What it is: Handles sewn onto the sides of the mattress using a flag-stitch method, positioned on both sides for ease of positioning.
How it helps you sleep: Makes it easy to reposition and rotate the mattress regularly, helping you maintain even wear and consistent support.

Vs firmer mattresses: If you choose the Opal Deluxe in its Soft or Medium tension, you'll get noticeably more pressure relief at the shoulders and hips than a firmer mattress can offer, thanks to the responsive HD and Cortecâ„¢ spring layers working beneath the natural comfort fillings. This makes it a strong choice if you sleep on your side or share a bed. Firmer mattresses generally suit heavier sleepers or those who prefer a more rigid, supportive surface - which is why the Opal Deluxe is also offered in a Firm tension for exactly that customer.
Vs softer mattresses: Even at its Soft tension, the Opal Deluxe has a genuine dual pocket spring structure underneath its natural comfort layers, giving more durable, consistent support than a purely foam-based soft mattress. Softer all-foam options can feel immediately plush but may not hold their shape or spinal support as consistently over time - particularly for combination sleepers or couples of different body weights.
Vs premium and luxury mattresses: The Opal Deluxe shares the same hand-tufted construction, fully natural fillings and dual pocket spring technology found in higher-priced luxury ranges. The difference typically lies in the depth of the comfort layers and the breadth of natural fillings used, rather than any compromise in the quality of construction or craftsmanship.
The Harrison Spinks Opal Deluxe is backed by Harrison Spinks's 10-year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. Given the quality of the natural materials and the handcrafted, hand-tufted construction, this is a mattress built to last - the guarantee reflects that.
The Harrison Spinks Opal Deluxe has received several awards and accreditations, including:
The Opal Deluxe delivers a rare combination: a genuinely luxury, fully natural feel, dual-spring responsive support, and a choice of three tensions - all handcrafted in Britain by a fifth-generation family bedmaker and backed by a 10-year guarantee. If you're a side, back, front or combination sleeper, share a bed, or simply want a mattress built entirely from natural materials, this is one to consider.

Only had this bed for 2 weeks but it is very comfy and supportive. I’m sure it will last, the brand has a great reputation
read moreExcellent mattress .Very pleased with it.
read moreI previously had the quartz mattress which was very comfortable but we had had it for 16 years so felt we needed to change it. Couldn’t find that mattress so ordered the opal one. We don’t have to turn this one over only rotate it once a week for the first few months. The only thing I don’t really like is that the tufts on the mattress feel quite hard sometimes can feel them if sitting. Overall if this mattress lasts as well as the last one I will be happy.
read moreGreat investment! We love this mattress, have never slept better. The only downside…. It’s ruined hotel beds for us now, we can’t wait to come back to our Harrison Spinks.
read moreThe mattress is well made out of good quality materials but I was very disappointed in the amount of padding material on top of the springs. I found that I could feel the springs when I lay down on the mattress and this causes pain in my hips , knees and shoulders. I have had to purchase extra mattress toppers to be able to get a good night's sleep.

read morePurchased the soft mattress on 12th May 2025, we have tried to sleep on this for 2 months. This is not a soft mattress. It is very firm with very little give/softness. We are both now suffering from lower back pains and will now need to look for a NEW mattress. Considering this was a £1000+ mattress we expected a soft mattress. When received the mattress the label states Gentle, not soft. We will never purchase a Harrison Spinks Opal mattress again even if it is British Made. Very expensive mistake.
read moreI slept from the first night with this as allaying have backache and pains everywhere. As I am a heavier person I went for the firm and it did not disappoint me. When get bed for other room will get same mattress again. It is very heavy and good quality and I love it.
