The Hypnos Margaret Headboard is an upholstered headboard made in the UK by Hypnos, featuring a sleek padded panel with softly rounded top corners and rows of delicate button detailing. It is available in Small Single through to Super King Size, including European King Size, and can be configured as a height-adjustable bed fixing on struts model (two wooden fixing posts attach to the divan base) or as a slim fit floor standing model (the panel extends to the floor and is bolted to the divan base through slots in the headboard). The Hypnos Margaret Headboard is available in a range of fabrics and colours, is made from FSC certified timber, carries a 1 year guarantee and is designed for use with Hypnos divan bases. The headboard is sold separately from the divan base and mattress.

Best for
Not ideal for
Worth knowing:
Rounded Edges
What it is: A sleek upholstered panel with softly rounded top corners and a clean, straight top edge. There are no channels, borders or wings.
How it helps you: The rounded corners soften the silhouette for a gentle, sophisticated look that blends modern elegance with timeless charm.
Subtle Button Detailing
What it is: Neat rows of small, delicate buttons are set across the padded face of the headboard.
How it helps you: The buttons add soft texture and a tailored finish without the heavier look of deep buttoning, keeping the overall style light and refined. The padded face is comfortable to lean against when sitting up in bed.
Upholstery & Fabric Choice
What it is: The headboard is upholstered and available in a choice of fabrics and colours.
How it helps you: Allows the headboard to be matched to an existing divan base or chosen to complement the wider bedroom scheme.
Bed Fixing on Struts
What it is: Two wooden fixing posts (struts) are attached to the back of the headboard. These insert into pre-drilled holes in the divan base and are secured with bolts. The struts are slotted, so the height of the headboard can be adjusted.
How it helps you: The traditional, stable fixing method. The headboard is firmly attached to the base so it does not shift or creak, and the adjustable height lets you position the panel to suit your mattress depth. Bolts are supplied with the divan base, not the headboard.
Slim Fit Floor Standing
What it is: The headboard panel extends from the top of the headboard all the way to the floor, aligning with the width of the mattress and divan base. The headboard is positioned behind the base and bolted to it through slots in the main body of the headboard, with the base sitting in front.
How it helps you: Gives the look of a tall, statement headboard without any wall fixing. The headboard is still securely attached to the base so it will not shift, and the floor-to-panel design creates a cleaner, more furniture-like finish than the strut version.
FSC Certified Timber
What it is: The headboard frame is made in the UK from FSC certified timber.
How it helps you: FSC certification confirms the timber is sourced from responsibly managed forests, so you can choose your headboard with confidence in where its materials come from.

Vs a plain or non-branded headboard: The Margaret is made in the UK by a Royal Warrant holding manufacturer, from FSC certified timber, and is designed for use with Hypnos divan bases, so you know it is made to suit your base. Its rounded edges and delicate button detailing offer a level of design and craftsmanship that a typical generic panel headboard rarely matches. If you simply want a basic headboard for a non-Hypnos bed, a generic upholstered headboard may be a more cost-effective choice.
Vs other Hypnos headboards in the range: The Margaret sits among the softer, understated designs in the Hypnos range. Its delicate buttons give it more texture than a plain panel design, while staying far lighter than deep buttoned Chesterfield styles. If you prefer a crisper, more linear look, a straight-edged channelled or panelled design may suit you better.
Vs other headboards at Land of Beds: Within our wider headboard range, the Margaret sits among our premium branded upholstered headboards, combining a sleek rounded design with delicate buttoning, British manufacturing and the choice of strutted or floor standing fixing. It is a strong choice if you want a soft, sophisticated finish to complete a Hypnos divan.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing.
Hypnos Royal Warrant Holder - Hypnos holds a Royal Warrant from His Majesty King Charles III for beds, mattresses and upholstery. It's a standard of craftsmanship that has to be earned and maintained.
FSC Certified Timber - The timber frame is sourced from responsibly managed forests, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
Made in Britain - Independently certified confirmation that this headboard is manufactured in the UK.
The Hypnos Margaret Headboard gives your bedroom a stylish upgrade, with softly rounded corners and delicate button detailing that blend modern elegance with timeless charm. Made in the UK and available in a range of fabrics and colours, it is the natural choice for anyone completing a Hypnos divan set with a soft, sophisticated headboard.
Choose bed fixing on struts for a traditional, height-adjustable headboard fitted to your divan base, or slim fit floor standing for a taller, floor-to-panel statement finish.

read moreWhat is the difference between bed fixing on struts and slim fit floor standing?
The bed fixing on struts version has two wooden fixing posts on the back that bolt into the divan base, with an upholstered panel height of 77cm. The struts are slotted, so the headboard height can be adjusted. The slim fit floor standing version is upholstered all the way to the floor at 132cm high and bolts to the divan base through slots in the headboard, with the base sitting in front. Both are the same width as the matching divan base.
Does this headboard come with bolts to attach it to the base?
No, bolts are not supplied with the headboard. They are delivered with your divan base.
Will the Hypnos Margaret Headboard fit a non-Hypnos bed?
The Margaret is designed for use with Hypnos divan bases. Fit on non-Hypnos bases cannot be guaranteed, so we recommend pairing it with a Hypnos divan.
How do I attach the headboard to the divan base?
Find the pre-drilled headboard holes in the back of the divan base and pierce the fabric. For bed fixing on struts, screw the bolts into the holes leaving about 4cm of thread showing, slide the struts onto the bolts and tighten once the headboard is in position. For slim fit floor standing, position the headboard against the base and screw the bolts through the slots in the back of the headboard into the base.
Is the Hypnos Margaret Headboard comfortable to lean against?
Yes. The buttoned face is padded and upholstered, giving a soft, cushioned surface that is comfortable to lean against when reading or watching TV in bed.
