The Hypnos Wool Mattress Topper is a 3cm wool-filled mattress topper that adds a soft, natural comfort layer to the top of an existing mattress. It is filled with 100% British wool from Red Tractor Assured farms, held in place by a sewn-in panel frame and finished with a smooth, soft cotton top surface. The result is a Medium-feel topper that adds gentle cushioning to a firmer mattress, helps regulate your temperature so you stay cool in summer and cosy in winter, and naturally resists dust mites and allergens for a cleaner sleep environment, all backed by a 5-year guarantee.
The Hypnos Wool Mattress Topper is a 3cm, Medium-feel mattress topper filled with 100% British wool, finished with a cotton top surface and elasticated corner straps.
A wool-filled topper best suited to side, back, front and combination sleepers who want natural temperature regulation and a gentle extra layer of comfort.
Medium: The Goldilocks option - not too firm, not too soft. Medium is the most versatile firmness level, balancing comfort and support in a way that suits most sleeper types.
Best for
Not ideal for
100% British Wool Fill
What it is: Natural wool sourced from British farms within the Red Tractor Assured scheme, which sets standards for animal welfare, traceability and environmental protection across the supply chain.
How it helps you sleep: Wool absorbs moisture and releases it again, helping you stay cool in warmer months and cosy in cooler ones. It also naturally resists dust mites and allergens, creating a cleaner, healthier sleep environment.
Sewn-In Panel Frame
What it is: A stitched frame inside the topper that holds the wool filling in position.
How it helps you sleep: Keeps the wool evenly spread and helps the topper hold its shape and loft, so the comfort layer feels consistent from edge to edge instead of bunching up.
Cotton Top Surface
What it is: A smooth, soft cotton outer layer that encloses the wool filling.
How it helps you sleep: Cotton is a breathable natural fibre, so it works alongside the wool to let air and moisture move freely, giving you a fresh, comfortable surface to sleep on.
Elasticated Corner Straps
What it is: Elastic straps on all four corners of the topper that loop around the corners of your mattress. The topper sits directly on the mattress, beneath your fitted sheet.
How it helps you sleep: Holds the topper securely in place so it doesn't shift or slide as you move, keeping the extra comfort exactly where you need it all night.

Vs a softer, deeper topper: Deeper toppers give a more noticeable sink-in feel and can change the character of a mattress completely. At 3cm with a Medium feel, this topper adds gentle cushioning while keeping the familiar feel of your mattress underneath. Compare depths and feels across our full range of mattress toppers.
Vs a memory foam topper: Memory foam moulds closely to your body for deep pressure relief, but it can hold on to heat and usually can't go in the washing machine. Wool offers a more traditional, breathable feel that helps regulate temperature through the night, and this topper can be machine washed at home on a wool cycle.
Vs buying a new mattress: A topper is a great way to soften a firm mattress or add a natural comfort layer, but it can't restore support to a mattress that is sagging or worn out. If your current mattress has dips or no longer supports you properly, a new mattress is the better long-term choice.
The Hypnos Wool Mattress Topper is backed by Hypnos' 5-year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. That is a long guarantee for a mattress topper, and it reflects the quality of the British wool filling and the care that goes into its construction.
The Hypnos Wool Mattress Topper brings the natural comfort and temperature regulation of British wool to the mattress you already own. If you're looking to soften a firm mattress, tend to sleep hot, or simply want a breathable, natural comfort layer, this is the one to consider.
