The Hypnos Legacy III is a handcrafted, turnable pocket spring mattress available in three tensions - Medium (3/6), Firm (5/6) and Extra Firm (6/6). Built around Hypnos's ReActiveProâ„¢ 8-Turn Pocket Spring system, it layers Red Tractor Assured British Wool, a Himalayan Allo, Kapok and Cotton blended layer, and Adaptivâ„¢ Comfort Springs for a richer, more responsive comfort stack across all three tensions. All 100% foam-free and fully recyclable, finished with a Belgian Damask cover, Triple Edge Protectionâ„¢ and 3 rows of side stitching. Approved by the Good Housekeeping Institute and backed by a free 10-year guarantee.
A handcrafted, foam-free turnable pocket spring mattress featuring Hypnos's ReActiveProâ„¢ 8-Turn spring, Adaptivâ„¢ Comfort Springs, Red Tractor Assured British Wool, Himalayan Allo and Kapok, Triple Edge Protectionâ„¢ and a choice of Medium (3/6), Firm (5/6) or Extra Firm (6/6) tension.
The goldilocks option - not too firm, not too soft. Medium is the most versatile firmness level, balancing comfort and support in a way that suits most sleeper types.
Best for
A supportive, solid feel designed to keep your body well supported throughout the night. Ideal for back and front sleepers, or those who prefer a firmer sleeping surface.
Best for
Maximum resistance and support. Designed for those who need a very firm, unyielding sleeping surface - typically heavier sleepers or those who require maximum orthopaedic-style resistance throughout the night.
Best for
ReActiveProâ„¢ 8-Turn Pocket Spring System
What it is: Hypnos's premium pocket spring system with 8 active turns per spring. Each spring is a single continuous coil that moves independently, responding to your body weight and position with greater sensitivity across all three tensions.
How it helps you sleep: Eight active turns per spring deliver enhanced precision in sensing and responding to each point of pressure along the body. The open spring structure drives air through the mattress to regulate temperature, and minimal motion transfer means you and your partner won't disturb each other - effective on both sleeping sides of this turnable design.
Adaptivâ„¢ Comfort Springs
What it is: A secondary layer of micro springs positioned within the comfort layers above the main pocket spring system. They flex individually to body shapes, creating a balanced and responsive comfort surface.
How it helps you sleep: Adds a second tier of body-responsive support within the comfort zone, allowing the mattress to adapt more precisely to different body shapes and weights at all three tension levels, delivering both cushioning and precision support from within the comfort layers.
Red Tractor Assured British Wool
What it is: A natural upholstery filling sourced from farms certified under the Red Tractor scheme, covering animal welfare, traceability and environmental standards throughout the supply chain.
How it helps you sleep: A natural insulator that keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter by regulating body temperature and wicking moisture away - working effectively on both sides of this turnable mattress across all three tensions.
Himalayan Allo, Kapok and Cotton Blended Layer
What it is: A unique comfort layer combining three sustainably sourced natural fibres. Himalayan Allo is a plant fibre extracted from nettles grown in the Himalayan region, known for durability and breathability. Kapok is a lightweight, hollow seed fibre from tropical Kapok trees, naturally moisture-resistant and buoyant. Together with responsibly sourced cotton, the trio creates a filling that is biodegradable and renewable.
How it helps you sleep: Gentle and weightless in feel, the combination delivers support and resilience. Cotton and Allo efficiently absorb moisture and promote natural cooling, complementing the wool and Adaptivâ„¢ springs in keeping the sleeping surface comfortable on both sides of this turnable mattress.
Triple Edge Protectionâ„¢
What it is: Higher-tension springs running around the full perimeter of the mattress, reinforcing the border from top to bottom.
How it helps you sleep: Extends the full sleeping surface right to the very edge on both sleeping sides of this turnable mattress, ensuring consistent support for couples who use the full width of the bed and those who sit on the edge.
Belgian Damask Cover
What it is: A soft-to-touch cover woven from certified sustainable cotton yarn and viscose in a damask construction, providing a smooth, fresh and hygienic sleeping surface.
How it helps you sleep: The breathable cover complements the natural wool and cotton fillings beneath, providing a comfortable sleeping environment on both sides of this turnable mattress.

Vs softer models: The Legacy III is available in three tensions with the medium option well suited to a wide range of sleeper types. At firm and extra firm, it delivers solid structural support rather than cushioning. If you prefer a very soft, plush feel, our soft mattress range is the right starting point.
Vs medium mattresses: In its Medium (3/6) option, the Legacy III combines the ReActiveProâ„¢ 8-Turn spring with Adaptivâ„¢ Comfort Springs and Himalayan Allo and Kapok - a richer comfort stack than many medium models. The result is a well-balanced medium with more body-contouring responsiveness than a standard pocket spring design.
Vs other Hypnos mattresses in the range: The Legacy III sits above the entry-level range at Land of Beds and is distinguished by the combination of the ReActiveProâ„¢ 8-Turn spring, Adaptivâ„¢ Comfort Springs and the Himalayan Allo and Kapok blended layer. The Good Housekeeping Institute's approval reflects the quality of this combination in practice. The turnable double-sided design across three tensions makes it a versatile choice for households with different support requirements, and its natural filling credentials are independently recognised.
The Hypnos Legacy III is backed by Hypnos's free 10-year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. Handcrafted in Britain with Red Tractor Assured British Wool, Himalayan Allo and Kapok, Adaptivâ„¢ Comfort Springs and a turnable double-sided design, the Good Housekeeping Institute approval reflects the quality built into this mattress - the guarantee reflects that it is designed to last.
Good Housekeeping Institute Approved - The Legacy III has been approved by the Good Housekeeping Institute, independently tested and assessed by one of the UK's most trusted consumer testing bodies. So highly rated by testers that one described the experience as "life-changing."
Hypnos Royal Warrant Holder - Hypnos has held a Royal Warrant since 1929, supplying beds to the British Royal Household. It is a standard of craftsmanship that has to be earned and maintained over generations.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing. Not every mattress brand carries this approval.
Made in Britain - Independently certified confirmation that the Legacy III is manufactured in the UK, by Hypnos's fourth- and fifth-generation craftsmen.
The Hypnos Legacy III delivers a Good Housekeeping Institute-approved combination of the ReActiveProâ„¢ 8-Turn spring, Adaptivâ„¢ Comfort Springs, Red Tractor Assured British Wool, Himalayan Allo and Kapok across three tensions - all foam-free, fully recyclable and backed by a 10-year guarantee. A versatile, naturally specified mattress that earns its place in the Hypnos range through genuine independent recognition.
