The Fernleigh is a fabric-upholstered bed frame from Land of Beds, finished in a warm natural velvet with a smooth frame fabric and a complementary textured headboard panel. The oversized plain padded headboard sits at 110cm tall, giving the bed a generous, considered presence without the formality of a buttoned or winged style. Sitting on dark wood legs with a solid wooden slatted base, it is built to keep the mattress well-supported and well-ventilated night after night. Available in Double and King Size, the Fernleigh Natural is SMETA certified and uses FSC certified wood, confirming responsible sourcing throughout.
A natural velvet bed frame with an oversized plain padded headboard and solid wooden slatted base, designed for warm, neutral bedrooms where a soft, inviting finish is the starting point for the room.

Worth Knowing
Natural Velvet Upholstery
What it is: Two complementary natural velvet fabrics - a smooth velvet covering the frame and a textured velvet on the headboard panel - creating a tonal, layered finish throughout.
How it helps you: The warmth of the natural tone and the interplay between the two fabric textures means the bed reads as a considered piece of furniture rather than a plain upholstered frame, without needing additional decoration to fill the room.
Oversized Plain Padded Headboard
What it is: A generously proportioned, plainly padded headboard in textured natural velvet, sitting at 110cm in height and designed to span wider than a standard headboard.
How it helps you: The size and padding give you a proper surface to lean against when sitting up - broad enough to be genuinely comfortable and tall enough to support your back without slipping down.
Solid Wooden Slatted Base
What it is: A rigid slatted base made from wooden slats that supports the mattress from below, with slats spaced 6cm apart.
How it helps you: Allows air to circulate freely beneath the mattress, helping it breathe and regulate temperature for a more comfortable night's sleep.
Dark Wood Legs
What it is: Dark-stained wooden legs fitted at each corner of the frame, providing 13cm of clearance between the base of the frame and the floor.
How it helps you: Against the natural upholstery, the dark legs add definition and stop the bed from blending too softly into a neutral room - a small detail that sharpens the overall look considerably.

Vs divan beds: Bed frames sit on legs and allow airflow beneath the mattress, which helps the mattress stay fresh and regulate temperature over time. Divan sets sit closer to the floor, typically come with a matched base and mattress, and often include built-in storage. The Fernleigh gives you more freedom in how the room looks and feels; a divan gives you a more complete, integrated sleep set-up.
Vs wooden and metal bed frames: The natural velvet upholstery on the Fernleigh brings a softness to the room that wood and metal cannot match - both to look at and to lean against. Wooden frames suit those who prefer a more organic, furniture-led feel; metal frames work best in pared-back or industrial schemes. Velvet does ask more of you in terms of maintenance, particularly in busier households.
Vs other frames in the range: The Fernleigh Natural is the warmer of the two Fernleigh colourways and the one more likely to suit bedrooms already working with neutral, earthy or linen-toned palettes. Across the wider Land of Beds fabric frame range, it offers the oversized headboard proportions of a statement bed without the formality of a buttoned or winged style. If storage matters as much as style, the ottoman and drawer bed ranges are worth a look.
SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) - An internationally recognised ethical trade audit confirming the Fernleigh has been manufactured under fair working conditions, with responsible labour and environmental practices verified throughout the supply chain.
FSC Certified Wood - The Forest Stewardship Council certification confirms that the timber used in this bed frame has been sourced from responsibly managed forests - independently verified, so you know the wood has been produced without contributing to deforestation.
A mattress is not included with the Fernleigh Natural bed frame. Any standard UK mattress fits - slat spacing is 6cm. If you would prefer a matched recommendation, the following mattresses have been selected to work with this base.

The Fernleigh Natural is a bed that does the decorating work for you - the warm natural velvet, oversized padded headboard and tonal two-fabric finish give the room a dressed, considered feel from the moment it goes up. The solid wooden slatted base and dark wood legs keep the construction honest and practical underneath it all.
