Vs standard single bed frames:: Standard bed frames are the simplest option and suit all age groups, with a plain headboard and footboard. The Thornton Home adds an open house frame above the bed that children can decorate and make their own. Standard frames take up less visual space; this model trades that for a bed that doubles as a play den.
Vs other kids bed sub-types:: Mid sleepers and high sleepers raise the sleeping platform to free up space underneath, but children need to be confident climbing a ladder. The Thornton Home keeps the mattress close to the floor, so it suits children who are not ready for a raised bed. Bunk beds suit rooms with two children sharing; this bed is a single sleeping surface only.
Vs other kids beds in the range: Taller house-shaped beds make a bigger statement and can offer more storage space underneath. The Thornton Home is a lighter, lower option at 164.5cm tall, with a classic panelled foot end and fresh white finish that suits a wide range of children's bedrooms.
A mattress is not included with the Thornton Home. Any standard UK Single mattress up to 12cm deep fits - slat spacing is 7cm. If you would prefer a matched recommendation, the following mattress has been selected to work with this bed.
