Worth knowing:
Platform Top Base
What it is: A solid wooden top upholstered in fabric, providing a firm, stable surface across the full base area. Available in a range of fabrics and colours. Storage configurations including drawer and ottoman options are available.
How it helps you: A platform top provides consistent, even support to the mattress above, which helps the mattress perform at its best and can extend its lifespan. The choice of fabrics allows you to match the base to your bedroom.
Storage Options
What it is: Storage configurations available: non storage; 2 full size drawers; 4 full size drawers; ottoman storage. Drawers are constructed from hard-wearing laminate with smooth runners and a 20kg per standard drawer weight limit.
How it helps you: Drawers offer practical daily access to spare bedding and seasonal items without lifting the mattress. Ottoman storage provides a larger storage cavity, accessed by lifting the base top, ideal for bulkier items used less frequently. Choose the configuration that suits how you live in your bedroom.
The Included Mattress: Lewis & Jones Epsom Superb
What it is: A medium (3/6) double-sided pocket spring mattress with 3031 individually pocketed springs and an additional mini pocket spring comfort layer. Fillings include a blended wool, silk and cashmere layer, cotton layer, and white fibre layers. The mattress is hand tufted with woollen tufts, finished with 2 rows of side stitching, covered in 100% Viscose, and features flag-stitched handles and chrome air vents. Depth is 28cm.
How it helps you: The 3031 pocket springs work independently to contour to your body and minimise partner disturbance, while the mini pocket spring layer adds a responsive comfort tier between the springs and fillings. The blended wool, silk and cashmere layer regulates temperature and adds a touch of natural luxury. Being double-sided means the mattress can be turned for even wear, giving it a longer working life than a single-sided design.

Vs bed frames: A divan set sits lower to the floor with a fully upholstered profile and no exposed legs or joints. The Epsom Superb set includes the mattress as part of the package, whereas bed frame buyers purchase their mattress separately. Bed frames offer more design variety and an airier look; divan sets offer integrated storage and a cleaner, more minimal aesthetic. If bedroom storage is a priority, the divan wins on practicality.
Vs other Lewis & Jones divan sets in the range: The Epsom Superb sits at the premium end of the Lewis & Jones range, distinguished by its 3031-spring count, double-sided construction, and the blended wool, silk and cashmere comfort layer. Entry-level sets in the range use simpler spring and filling configurations and are typically single-sided. If longevity and natural fillings matter to you, the Epsom Superb is the stronger investment.
Vs premium luxury ranges: The Epsom Superb shares many characteristics with higher-priced handcrafted divan beds - natural fillings, a generous spring count, traditional hand tufting and double-sided construction. The difference in ultra-premium ranges tends to be the depth and complexity of the comfort layers and the number of filling tiers, rather than any fundamental compromise in build quality or materials.
The Lewis & Jones Epsom Superb Divan Bed is backed by a free 10-year manufacturer's guarantee covering both the divan base and the Epsom Superb mattress against defects in materials and workmanship. Given the quality of construction - hand tufted, double-sided, and built with natural fillings - this is a set designed to last well beyond the guarantee period. The 10-year cover reflects that confidence.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - The Epsom Superb Divan Bed carries NBF approval, independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing. The NBF is the trade body for the UK bed industry, and their approval process is rigorous.
NBF Pledge for Our Planet - Lewis & Jones is a signatory of the National Bed Federation's Pledge for Our Planet, committing to continuous environmental improvement across their business and products. This covers reducing waste, global warming impact, and the environmental footprint of each product they make.
The Lewis & Jones Epsom Superb Divan Bed delivers the reassurance of a complete, tested sleep set - base and mattress chosen to work together - built with natural fillings, a high spring count, and traditional handcrafting in Great Britain. Whether you are a side sleeper, share a bed, or simply want a mattress you can turn and trust for years, this set is worth serious consideration.

As with all mattresses, there may be a slight smell when first opened. We liken this to a new car smell, which is non-harmful and will disappear within a few hours.
