Vs softer mattresses: The Duchess's firm feel gives noticeably more support and less sink than a softer mattress, while still providing dependable comfort from the Sealy Medium Softness Foam layer. If you're a back or front sleeper, or a heavier sleeper who needs dependable support, this is the better choice. Softer mattresses suit side sleepers or those who want a more plush, cushioned surface.
Vs medium mattresses: This mattress offers noticeably firmer, more consistent support than a medium mattress, thanks to the combined PostureTech and mini pocket spring system. Medium mattresses suit a broader range of sleeping positions, while the Duchess is built specifically for those who need a firmer, more supportive feel.
Vs premium and luxury mattresses: This mattress shares the same PostureTech spring technology and BugShield® treatment found across Sealy's range. The difference is typically in the depth of the comfort layers and additional finishing details, rather than any compromise in the quality of the support system itself.
The Duchess is backed by Sealy's 5-year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. Given the quality of the spring construction and hygienic BugShield® treatment, this is a mattress built to last - the guarantee reflects that.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing.
Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP) Accredited - Independently recognised for demonstrating a genuine commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices.
The Duchess delivers dependable firm support with genuine hygiene credentials thanks to its BugShield® treatment - handcrafted in Cumbria and built to withstand daily use. If you're a back or front sleeper looking for a supportive, easy-care mattress, this is well worth a closer look. Its hospitality-grade construction also makes it a genuine option for hotels, B&Bs and Airbnb properties that need a durable, guest-ready bed.

It's been used for a month. It's firm enough to support my lower back, and good enough for both back and side sleep. Whether it's durable I don't know, but it's all good so far.
