Vs softer mattresses: The Amherst's firm feel gives noticeably more support and less sink than a softer mattress, while Geltex® and the 800 mini pocket springs still provide targeted pressure relief. If you're a back or front sleeper, or a heavier sleeper who needs dependable support, this is the better choice. Softer mattresses suit side sleepers or those who want a more plush, cushioned surface.
Vs medium mattresses: This mattress offers noticeably firmer, more consistent support than a medium mattress, thanks to the combined PostureTech and mini pocket spring system. Medium mattresses suit a broader range of sleeping positions, while the Amherst is built specifically for those who need a firmer, more supportive feel.
Vs premium and luxury mattresses: This mattress shares the same PostureTech spring technology, Geltex® comfort layer and ProShield® treatment found in higher-priced Sealy ranges. The difference is typically in the depth of the comfort layers and additional finishing details, rather than any compromise in the quality of the support system itself.
The Amherst is backed by Sealy's 5-year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. Given the twice-tempered spring construction and quality build, this is a mattress built to last - the guarantee reflects that.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing.
Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP) Accredited - Independently recognised for demonstrating a genuine commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices.
ProShield® Treatment - Endorsed by Allergy UK - Independently endorsed by Allergy UK, confirming the anti-allergen treatment meets recognised standards for reducing allergen exposure.
The Amherst delivers dependable firm support with genuine cooling and allergen protection, backed by Sealy's combined PostureTech and mini pocket spring system. If you're a back or front sleeper looking for a supportive, breathable mattress, this is well worth a closer look.
Choosing a mattress online takes trust. That's why the Amherst comes with a 100 night comfort guarantee - if it doesn't feel right, we'll exchange it. View the full mattress trial policy.
