The Natural Hybrid® Apex is Simba's most premium foam-free hybrid mattress, handcrafted in Great Britain. At 32cm deep with up to 5,700 Aerocoil® titanium micro springs across three layers plus a 1,000-spring CoreMax™ zoned base, it carries the highest spring count in the Natural Hybrid® range. A top layer of Cashgora wool and silk sits above Hampshire wool and multiple British wool layers throughout. Foam-free from cover to base, the Apex is the pinnacle of natural sleep engineering: deep cushioning, complete spinal alignment and the finest temperature regulation in the range.
A premium foam-free hybrid mattress best suited to sleepers who want medium firm support at the highest level of natural luxury, with triple-layer Aerocoil® spring technology and a construction built from Cashgora wool, silk and traceable British wool, handcrafted in the UK.
Medium Firm Feel - 4/6: A supportive feel with added stability. Ideal for people who change sleeping position during the night and need a balance of comfort and support.
Best for
Not ideal for
Blended Cashgora, Silk and Hampshire Wool Layer
What it is: A top comfort layer combining Cashgora wool from Cashgora goats, temperature-regulating silk and resilient Hampshire wool, responsibly sourced.
How it helps you sleep: Cashgora is one of the softest natural fibres used in mattress making. Combined with silk's exceptional temperature regulation and Hampshire wool's springy resilience, this layer delivers an immediate sensation of luxury while keeping you cool and dry throughout the night.
British Wool Layers
What it is: Multiple layers of 100% British wool sourced through the Traceable British Wool Scheme in partnership with British Wool.
How it helps you sleep: British wool provides cushioning, resilience and natural temperature regulation throughout the depth of the mattress. The multiple layers give the Apex its characteristic depth and ensure the natural fillings remain evenly distributed and comfortable over the long term.
Aerocoil® Titanium Alloy Pocket Springs (Three Layers)
What it is: Up to 5,700 conical, individually pocketed titanium alloy micro springs across three layers, manufactured in Leeds.
How it helps you sleep: Three layers of Aerocoil® springs deliver the highest level of pinpoint support, motion isolation and airflow in the Natural Hybrid® range. The top layer responds to surface movement, while the two lower layers support heavier areas like hips and shoulders. As each spring compresses, it actively circulates cool air through the mattress.
CoreMax™ 7-Zone Barrel Spring Base
What it is: Up to 1,000 high carbon steel barrel springs manufactured in Hampshire, arranged in seven support zones with a reinforced steel frame border for edge-to-edge support.
How it helps you sleep: The zoned base provides deep structural support beneath the natural fillings and Aerocoil® layers, with each zone calibrated to the different support needs of the body. The reinforced frame extends firm support to the very edges, minimising roll-off and maximising the usable sleep surface.
Plant-Derived Viscose Cover
What it is: A non-removable cover made from plant-based viscose fibres, featuring a bio-based fire retardant treatment on the top surface and sides.
How it helps you sleep: Provides a smooth, silky, breathable sleep surface that complements the natural fillings within. Its breathability supports the open construction of the Apex, helping cool air move freely through the mattress from the spring system upward.

Vs the Natural Hybrid® Escape: The Apex adds a third layer of Aerocoil® springs, taking the total Aerocoil® count from 3,800 to 5,700. It also introduces the premium Cashgora wool and silk top layer. The result is a noticeably deeper, more luxurious mattress with superior pressure distribution at the shoulder and hip. If you want the finest natural sleep experience Simba makes, this is it.
Vs softer models: The Apex is firmly positioned at medium firm despite its luxurious feel. The depth of natural fillings creates a sumptuous sleeping surface, but the triple spring system ensures support is never compromised. Sleepers who want a genuinely soft feel should look at softer mattress ranges.
Vs premium luxury ranges: The Apex sits alongside the most premium natural hybrid mattresses on the market. At 32cm deep with twelve carefully constructed layers, it compares favourably with significantly more expensive handmade alternatives. What sets it apart is the combination of proprietary Aerocoil® spring technology with premium Cashgora wool and silk - a combination that very few competitors can replicate.
The Natural Hybrid® Apex is backed by Simba's 10-year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. Given the quality of the Cashgora wool, silk and multiple British wool layers, and the precision-engineered three-layer spring system, this is a mattress built to last far beyond the guarantee period.
The Simba Natural Hybrid® Apex has received 8 awards and accreditations, including:
Good Housekeeping Institute Approved - Independently tested and approved by the Good Housekeeping Institute, recognising the Apex's quality construction and sleep performance.
Indy/Best - Named in The Independent's Best list, confirming its position among the top-rated mattresses in the UK.
Sun Shopping Recommended - Recognised and recommended by The Sun's shopping editorial team.
Best UK Mattress - Recognised as one of the best mattresses in the UK by an independent panel of sleep experts.
Zero Wasted - Reflects Simba's commitment to a circular approach to product design and reduced manufacturing waste.
