The Dartington is a handcrafted, natural-fillings mattress from Vispring, built around the brand's hand nested pocket springs and hand teased wool and cotton fillings for a supportive, body-moulding feel. This clearance listing offers the Super King Size in a Zip & Link configuration - two 3ft-wide sections zipped together to form the full Super King width, with one side set to a Soft tension and the other to Medium - as Ex-Showroom stock that may show minor cosmetic marks from time on display, though this does not affect comfort or support.
This item is part of our Ex-Showroom range. An Ex-Showroom item could have some marks or wear and tear from being on display in one of our showrooms. This will be cosmetic and will not affect the usability of the product. If you require any extra information just give us a call on 01928 242829.
A handcrafted pocket sprung mattress from Vispring, combining hand teased natural wool and cotton fillings with Vispring's own hand nested pocket springs, offered here in a Super King Size Zip & Link configuration with a Soft tension on one side and a Medium tension on the other - available at a clearance price as Ex-Showroom stock with a 30-year guarantee and possible cosmetic signs of display wear.
Soft Side - 1/6: A soft, plush feel that gently cushions the body and eases pressure at the shoulders and hips, suiting those who prefer to sink in a little more as they sleep.
Medium Side - 3/6: A balanced feel offering equal parts cushioning and support, suiting most sleepers who want a middle-ground tension that isn't too firm or too soft.

Worth knowing:
Hand Nested Pocket Springs
What it is: 1,558 of Vispring's own springs, made from the finest Vanadium steel and hand-nested in a honeycomb pattern, with each spring enclosed in its own natural cotton calico pocket.
How it helps you sleep: Each spring works independently, sensing the weight, pressure and contours of you and your partner for body-responsive support from head to toe.
Hand Teased Fillings
What it is: The traditional craft of gently separating natural fibres by hand to enhance their inherent qualities and ensure they're evenly distributed throughout the mattress.
How it helps you sleep: Creates an opulent, resilient feel that allows air to move freely through the fillings, helping the mattress breathe and maintain its shape night after night.
British Fleece Wool & Cotton Layers
What it is: A combination of natural upholstery layers, including bonded cotton and Platinum Certified British fleece wool, plus further layers of wool and cotton blended for softness and structure.
How it helps you sleep: Naturally hypoallergenic and insulating, these layers regulate temperature - keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter - while helping moisture evaporate for a fresher sleep surface.
Tape Edging
What it is: A hand-finishing technique used by Vispring's craftsmen to close the mattress panel and border with meticulous care.
How it helps you sleep: Creates a beautifully smooth, strong edge finish that holds its shape and provides reliable support right to the sides of the mattress.
2 Rows of Hand Side Stitching
What it is: A traditional hand-sewn technique where senior upholsterers use long needles and natural twine to stitch the outer springs to the mattress border.
How it helps you sleep: Prevents the springs from distorting and extends the usable sleeping area right up to the edge of the bed, strengthening the borders overall.
Hand Tufted with Felt Washers
What it is: Vispring's hand-tufting technique, using felt washers to secure the fillings from the top of the mattress to the bottom.
How it helps you sleep: Keeps all loose fillings evenly distributed and firmly in place, maintaining a smooth, consistent sleep surface over the long term.
M-Pure Treated Finest Quality Cover
What it is: Vispring's finest quality cover, treated with M-Pure - a 100% sustainable, biodegradable and environmentally friendly natural fire retardant. The cover itself is Tick 596 Devonshire, made from 62% Viscose and 38% Wool.
How it helps you sleep: Provides a fresh, hygienic sleeping surface using natural ingredients rather than chemical retardants, for a safer, more luxurious sleep environment.
Flag-Stitched Handles
What it is: Sturdy handles sewn onto the sides of the mattress using a flag-stitch method.
How it helps you sleep: Makes it easy to reposition and turn the mattress, helping you maintain it properly for long-lasting comfort.
Chrome Air Vents
What it is: Chrome-finished ventilation eyelets set into the sides of the mattress.
How it helps you sleep: Promotes continuous air circulation through the mattress, regulating temperature and keeping the sleep surface fresh.

Vs softer mattresses: The Medium side already provides a gentler, more cushioned feel than a firm mattress while keeping full support underneath, ideal for sleepers who want some extra give without losing spinal alignment.
Vs premium and luxury mattresses: The Dartington shares Vispring's hallmark hand craftsmanship - hand nested springs, hand teased natural fillings and genuine hand side stitching - found throughout the brand's luxury collections, giving you the same quality construction as their higher-tier ranges at a reduced clearance price.
The Dartington comes with Vispring's 30-year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship.
