Worth Knowing
1000 Pocket Spring System
What it is: Individually wrapped springs that respond independently to weight and movement across the mattress.
How it helps you: Each spring moves without affecting those around it, which means the mattress contours to your body rather than creating a general hollow - and partner movement on a split King or Super King is absorbed without disturbing the other side.
Air-Lite Comfort Foam
What it is: A layer of comfort foam that conforms to the body's contours across the top of the pocket spring unit.
How it helps you: Distributes weight evenly and provides personalised support and pressure relief, helping to reduce discomfort at the hips, shoulders and lower back - particularly useful in an adjustable bed where you may spend longer periods in a semi-upright position.
Foam Encapsulated Edges
What it is: A high-density foam strip built into the edge of the mattress around the spring unit.
How it helps you: Prevents the mattress from sagging at the border, extending its life and giving you a more supportive sleeping area right to the edge of the mattress.
Micro Quilted Cover
What it is: A soft, breathable and stretchy knitted top panel, quilted for extra cushioning.
How it helps you: Provides a comfortable, snug sleeping surface that adds softness on top of the supportive layers beneath.
5-Part Adjustable Frame
What it is: A motorised frame divided into five independently moving sections - back, shoulders, neck, calves, and feet.
How it helps you: Lets you fine-tune your sleeping or resting position with greater precision than a standard two-zone head/foot adjustment - useful for finding a position that supports specific areas of the back or relieves pressure on the legs.
28 Sprung Birch Slat Base
What it is: A solid wood base fitted with 28 sprung birch slats in a natural finish, with a fabric-lined interior and a chrome curved mattress support bar.
How it helps you: The sprung slats flex with the mattress as the base changes position, providing consistent support whether the bed is flat or elevated, while the curved support bar and fabric lining give a clean, supportive finish beneath the mattress.
Twin Motor Mechanism
What it is: Two separate motors, one controlling the head end and one the foot end, operated independently.
How it helps you: Means head and foot positions can be adjusted at the same time or separately, without one movement affecting the other - useful when you want to raise the head for reading while keeping the feet flat.
Wired Handset
What it is: A corded remote control that connects to the base and operates the motors.
How it helps you: Provides reliable, straightforward control - always within reach on the bedside, with no batteries required.
Chrome Glides
What it is: Chrome-finished glides fitted to the underside of the base.
How it helps you: Keep the bed stable and secure while protecting your floor, adding a smooth, contemporary finish to the base.

The Seymour is also available with the optional Lifestyle base upgrade. This replaces the standard sprung slat base with a solid wood strong board base and a wide mattress support bar for even weight distribution, and moves from a 5-part frame to a 4-part twin motor system giving independent adjustment of the head, legs and lumbar areas. The Lifestyle base swaps the wired handset for a wireless remote control with a built-in torch and mobile app, adds a memory function to store your preferred positions, and includes an emergency lowering feature that returns the base to flat in the event of a power cut. The Lifestyle base also increases the maximum user weight to 30 stone. For pricing and to order the upgrade, call our team on 01928 242 829.
A matching Repton headboard is available as an optional extra for the Seymour. It is finished in the same fabric and colour as the base, with a deep-padded design and a clean, simple profile - available in all sizes from Small Single to Super King, at 61cm (24'') in height and 7cm (2.75'') in depth. It attaches to the base using standard adjustable struts for a secure, seamless fit.
Vs standard divan beds: A standard divan bed sits flat and cannot be adjusted. An adjustable bed allows independent elevation of the head and foot, which is useful for reading, watching TV, managing snoring or acid reflux, or supporting recovery from surgery or illness. Divan beds are typically lower in profile, simpler to dress, and cost significantly less. An adjustable bed is the right choice when positioning matters - for health reasons or everyday comfort. If a flat, low-profile bed is what you need, a divan is the better fit.
Vs other adjustable beds in the range: The Seymour sits as a mid-range option in our adjustable bed range, combining a 1000-pocket spring and Air-Lite foam mattress with a 5-part wired-handset base as standard. Sleepers who want a wireless remote, memory function and emergency lowering as standard, rather than as an upgrade, may prefer a higher-tier model - the Seymour offers these through its optional Lifestyle base upgrade instead. Its Medium Firm tension and 25 stone (30 stone on the Lifestyle base) weight limit make it a solid all-rounder for combination sleepers who change position overnight.
Vs buying the mattress separately: The Seymour mattress is also available as a mattress-only purchase - useful if you already have a compatible adjustable base and want to upgrade the mattress without replacing the whole bed. If you are buying your first adjustable bed, purchasing the base and mattress together ensures compatibility. The mattress-only listing for this bed can be found here.
The Seymour is backed by a 5-year guarantee, covering the base, mattress, and motorised mechanisms against defects in materials and workmanship. Including the motors within the guarantee is an important reassurance on an adjustable bed, where the mechanism is the most mechanically complex part of the product, and gives buyers confidence in the long-term reliability of the build.
Land of Beds Best Seller - One of our most-purchased adjustable beds, based on sales volume, customer reviews and long-term value.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing.
The Seymour combines a Medium Firm 1000-pocket spring and Air-Lite foam mattress with a 5-part adjustable base and a 5-year guarantee - a dependable, UK-handmade adjustable bed for sleepers who change position through the night and want proper support while they do it. Available in Small Single through to Super King, with King and Super King supplied as a split design for independent adjustment, and free UK delivery included.

Great comfortable bed, very easy to operate
read moreIt’s a lovely bed, but unfortunately, the mattress feels a lot firmer than the one in the shop did. I purchased an adjustable bed because I have osteoarthritis and spinal stenosis and after lying on the demonstration bed in the shop, it felt soft, but firm enough for my requirements. I did phone Land of Beds in Helsby shortly after I received it, as I am in agony every time I try to go to sleep and have only spent three full nights sleep in it since I bought the bed, which is months ago - ending up in agony during and after the experience. The lady I spoke to on the phone said that the mattress would soften up with use and that I should rotate it every so often. I keep on trying to sleep on it, but end up coming down after a few hours and sleeping on my recliner chair. She said that the bed that I’d bought was not on one of the offers where you could try it at home and if it didn’t come up to expectations, you could return it - I knew that. As I said, it’s a very good quality bed, but it doesn’t have the comfort that the one I tried out in the shop had - I wouldn’t have spent £1,500 + if I’d have known it would be this firm and that I wouldn’t be able to sleep in it! Sorry, but I’m so disappointed.

All bed bases, divan beds and adjustable beds we sell come with pre drilled holes in the base. Find these holes and pierce the fabric. Then screw your bolts into the holes leaving about 4cm of thread visible. Slide the headboard onto the bolts and tighten them once the headboard is in the correct position.
