Worth knowing:
Platform Top or True Edge Pocket Sprung Base
What it is: Two base options are available. The Platform Top has a firm wooden platform upholstered in fabric, a solid, stable surface throughout. The True Edge Pocket Sprung Base contains 1,000 pocket springs beneath the upholstery, providing support right to the edge of the bed.
How it helps you: The Platform Top provides a consistent, supportive feel across the entire mattress surface. The True Edge Pocket Sprung Base adds responsive support and can help extend the life of the mattress by absorbing some of the daily load. Both options are genuine Harrison Spinks bases, manufactured with wood from FSC accredited forests, including wood from Harrison Spinks' own forests in North Yorkshire, and covered by the full 10-year guarantee.
Storage Options
What it is: Storage configurations available: Non Storage; 2 Full Size Drawers; 4 Full Size Drawers; 2+2 Continental Drawers; Lift Up Ottoman Storage.
How it helps you: Drawers offer easy daily access to spare bedding without lifting the mattress. Lift Up Ottoman Storage suits customers who need maximum storage volume and do not require daily access, using a gas ram mechanism to assist opening. The Ottoman base has a maximum weight limit of 77kg (170lbs) per side.
The Included Mattress: Harrison Spinks Saphira Deluxe
What it is: A luxury natural-fillings pocket sprung mattress available in Soft (1/6), Medium (3/6) or Firm (5/6) tension, filled with British Wool, Yorkshire Fleece, Cashmere, Alpaca, Mohair, Flax and Hemp. The spring system combines Harrison Spinks' HD Pocket Springs (18,000) with Advanced Cortecâ„¢ Quad Revolution Pocket Springs (6,750), for a total of 24,750 springs. The mattress is hand tufted, finished with 4 rows of side stitching, and covered in a 50% Wool, 50% Viscose Chemical Free Wool Cover. Depth is 28cm.
How it helps you: The dual pocket spring system delivers tailored, responsive support that adapts to your body's unique shape, while the natural wool and fibre fillings regulate temperature year-round. The 4 rows of side stitching extend the sleeping surface to the very edge. This is a seasonal turn mattress - turn and rotate head to toe every 3-4 months, and rotate and flip weekly for the first 3 months to encourage even settlement of the fillings.

Selecting glides instead of castors lowers the overall height of the bed by 1cm.
Vs bed frames: A divan set sits lower to the floor and has a more minimal visible profile than most bed frames. The base is fully upholstered with no exposed legs or joints. The set includes the Saphira Deluxe mattress, whereas bed frame buyers purchase their mattress separately. Bed frames offer more design variety but no integrated base support for the mattress.
Vs other divan sets in this price range: This set sits at the premium end of the divan market, offering a genuine choice of tension, a dual pocket spring mattress construction, and a base built from FSC accredited timber including Harrison Spinks' own forests. Cheaper divan sets typically offer a single fixed tension and a simpler single spring system, with less flexibility to match the mattress feel to the sleeper.
Vs premium and luxury divan ranges: This set shares the same upholstered base construction and dual pocket spring technology as higher-priced divan ranges. The difference is typically in the depth of the comfort layers and the rarity of the fillings used in the mattress, rather than any compromise in base quality or craftsmanship.
The Harrison Spinks Saphira Deluxe Divan Bed is backed by Harrison Spinks' 10-year manufacturer's guarantee, covering both the base and the mattress against defects in materials and workmanship. Given the quality of materials and handcrafted construction, this is a set built to last - the guarantee reflects that.
Harrison Spinks has received 7 awards and accreditations since 2013, including:
The Saphira Deluxe Divan Bed delivers a rare combination: genuine luxury feel, dual pocket spring support, and breathable natural materials - all handcrafted in Britain and backed by a 10-year guarantee. If you're a side, back, front or combination sleeper who wants to choose your own tension, or simply want a set that feels as good in five years as it does on night one, this is the one to consider.
