Worth knowing:
Modern Panelled Design
What it is: A rectangular upholstered headboard with a flat top and squared corners. A padded horizontal band runs across the top, with two large padded panels side by side beneath it, separated by a vertical seam. These sit above a plain upholstered lower section. No buttons, no tufting and no wings.
How it helps you: The mix of horizontal and vertical seams gives a clean, architectural look that makes a statement without fussy detailing, suiting both modern and classic bedrooms.
Padded Panels
What it is: The top band and both panels are padded beneath the upholstery fabric, and the headboard has an 11.5cm deep profile.
How it helps you: A comfortable, cushioned surface to lean back against when you are sitting up in bed to read, work or watch television.
Upholstery & Fabric Choice
What it is: The Norbury is fully upholstered and available in a range of fabrics and colours chosen to suit Highgrove divan bases.
How it helps you: You can choose a fabric that matches or complements your Highgrove divan base, so the headboard and bed look like a complete set rather than two separate pieces.
Slim Fit Floor Standing
What it is: The headboard extends from the top of the panel all the way to the floor, aligning with the width of the mattress and divan base. The lower section sits behind the base and is bolted to it through slots in the back of the headboard. It is designed to sit on the floor, so the height is fixed and cannot be adjusted.
How it helps you: Gives the look of a tall, statement headboard without any wall fixing. The headboard is securely attached to the base so it will not shift, and the floor-to-panel design creates a clean, furniture-like finish.

Vs a plain or non-branded headboard: A generic upholstered headboard will usually cost less, but it will not come with guaranteed fit on a Highgrove divan base or a fabric range chosen to suit it. The Norbury is made in Great Britain and NBF approved, so you know it has been built to recognised UK standards. If you do not have a Highgrove bed, a generic or universal-fit headboard may be the more practical choice.
Vs other Highgrove Beds headboards in the range: The Norbury sits at the premium end of the Highgrove range. Its 11.5cm deep profile and large padded panels give it more presence and comfort than the slimmer panel designs, and it comes as a floor standing headboard only. Choose it if you want a tall, modern statement piece with a bold, simple layout; look at the vertical channelled styles for a sleeker look, or the slimmer panelled and buttoned styles if you want a strut-fixed option or a lower price point.
Vs other headboards at Land of Beds: The Norbury is a mid-priced, brand-matched upholstered headboard - a step up from unbranded options without moving into heritage-brand pricing. Browse our full headboard range to compare styles, fixing methods and price points.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing.
Made in Great Britain - Manufactured in Great Britain by Highgrove Beds, supporting British craftsmanship and UK manufacturing.
The Norbury brings bold, modern panelling and a comfortable padded finish to your bed, creating a tall, striking focal point for the room. Made in Great Britain and available in a range of fabrics chosen to suit Highgrove divan bases, it is the natural choice for anyone completing a Highgrove divan set - or upgrading a Highgrove bed that has been missing a headboard.
