The Highgrove Beds Overton Headboard is an upholstered headboard with a classically elegant horizontal panel design, featuring two slim padded bands across the upper part of the headboard and a padded finish that adds comfort when sitting up in bed to read or watch television. It is available in Small Single through to Super King Size and can be ordered as a bed fixing on struts model, where two wooden fixing posts on the back of the headboard bolt to the divan base and allow the height to be adjusted, or as a slim fit floor standing design, where the headboard extends to the floor and is bolted to the base through slots in the back of the headboard. The Overton is upholstered in a range of fabrics and colours chosen to suit Highgrove divan bases, is made in Great Britain, is NBF approved, is exclusive to Land of Beds, and comes with a 1 year manufacturer's guarantee. It is designed for use with Highgrove divan bases, and fit on non-Highgrove bases cannot be guaranteed.

Worth knowing:
Horizontal Panel Design
What it is: A rectangular upholstered headboard with a flat top and squared corners. Below a plain top band, horizontal seams create two slim padded bands that run the full width of the headboard, above a large plain panel. No buttons, no tufting and no wings.
How it helps you: The horizontal lines give a classically elegant, clean-lined look that suits contemporary bedrooms and helps the bed feel wide and grounded.
Padded Panel
What it is: The panel and bands are padded beneath the upholstery fabric, creating a softer surface on the front of the headboard.
How it helps you: A comfortable surface to lean back against when you are sitting up in bed to read, work or watch television.
Upholstery & Fabric Choice
What it is: The Overton is fully upholstered and available in a range of fabrics and colours chosen to suit Highgrove divan bases.
How it helps you: You can choose a fabric that matches or complements your Highgrove divan base, so the headboard and bed look like a complete set rather than two separate pieces.
Bed Fixing on Struts
What it is: Two wooden fixing posts (struts) are attached to the back of the headboard. These insert into pre-drilled holes in the divan base and are secured with bolts. Slots in the struts allow the headboard height to be adjusted before the bolts are tightened.
How it helps you: The traditional, stable fixing method. You can set the headboard at the height that suits your mattress and divan, and once tightened it is firmly attached so it does not shift or creak. Bolts are supplied with the divan base, not the headboard.
Slim Fit Floor Standing
What it is: The headboard extends from the top of the panel all the way to the floor, aligning with the width of the mattress and divan base. The horizontal bands and padded panel sit across the top, above a plain upholstered lower section. The lower section sits behind the base and is bolted to it through slots in the back of the headboard. It is designed to sit on the floor, so the height is fixed and cannot be adjusted.
How it helps you: Gives the look of a tall, statement headboard without any wall fixing. The headboard is still securely attached to the base so it will not shift, and the floor-to-panel design creates a cleaner, more furniture-like finish than the strut version.

Vs a plain or non-branded headboard: A generic upholstered headboard may cost a little less, but it will not come with guaranteed fit on a Highgrove divan base or a fabric range chosen to suit it. The Overton is made in Great Britain and NBF approved, so you know it has been built to recognised UK standards. If you do not have a Highgrove bed, a generic or universal-fit headboard may be the more practical choice.
Vs other Highgrove Beds headboards in the range: The Overton sits at the understated end of the Highgrove range, with horizontal detailing rather than the vertical panels or buttoning found on other designs. Choose it if you want a clean, classic look that widens the bed visually; look at the vertical panelled styles for added height, or the buttoned styles for more texture.
Vs other headboards at Land of Beds: The Overton is an accessibly priced, brand-matched upholstered headboard - a step up from unbranded options without moving into premium heritage-brand pricing. Browse our full headboard range to compare styles, fixing methods and price points.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing.
Made in Great Britain - Manufactured in Great Britain by Highgrove Beds, supporting British craftsmanship and UK manufacturing.
The Overton brings clean horizontal lines and a comfortable padded finish to your bed, giving the whole room a classically elegant look. Made in Great Britain and available in a range of fabrics chosen to suit Highgrove divan bases, it is the natural choice for anyone completing a Highgrove divan set - or upgrading a Highgrove bed that has been missing a headboard.

read moreWhat is the difference between the bed fixing on struts and slim fit floor standing options?
The bed fixing on struts option has two wooden fixing posts on the back that bolt to your divan base, with the headboard panel sitting above the base. The slim fit floor standing option extends all the way to the floor and is bolted to the base through slots in the back of the headboard, giving a taller, more furniture-like finish.
Does the Overton headboard come with bolts?
No. Bolts for attaching the headboard to the divan base are not supplied with the headboard - they are delivered with the divan base.
Can I use the Overton headboard with a non-Highgrove bed?
The Overton is designed for use with Highgrove divan bases and is guaranteed to fit them. Fit on non-Highgrove bases cannot be guaranteed.
Can I adjust the height of the Overton headboard?
The bed fixing on struts version can be adjusted - slots in the struts let you set the headboard at the right height before tightening the bolts. The slim fit floor standing version is designed to sit on the floor, so its height is fixed.
What does the Overton look like as a floor standing headboard?
The slim fit floor standing version has the same horizontal bands and padded panel across the top, above a plain upholstered lower section that runs down to the floor behind the divan base.
