Worth knowing:
Platform Top or Firm Edge Pocket Sprung Base
What it is: Two base options are available. The Platform Top has a firm wooden platform upholstered in fabric - a solid, stable surface throughout. The Firm Edge Pocket Sprung Base contains 1,000 pocket springs at the top of the base beneath the upholstery, with a reinforced spring border around the perimeter.
How it helps you: The Platform Top provides a consistent, supportive feel across the entire mattress surface. The Firm Edge Pocket Sprung Base adds responsiveness and helps extend the life of the mattress by absorbing some of the daily load. Both options are genuine Hypnos bases covered by the full 10-year guarantee.
Storage Options
What it is: Storage configurations available: non storage; 2 full size drawers; 4 full size drawers; 2+2 Continental Drawers; Hideaway Base (concealed storage cavity beneath a valance on a platform top base); Super Storage Ottoman (full hydraulic lift of the entire base top, up to 44kg per side).
How it helps you: Drawers are made from hard-wearing laminate with smooth runners and a 20kg per standard drawer weight limit. They offer easy daily access without lifting the mattress. Super Storage Ottoman suits customers who need maximum volume and do not require daily access. The Hideaway Base suits those who want concealed storage with a low-profile look. Allow clear floor space on the drawer side when ordering a drawer model.
The Included Mattress: Hypnos Astoria Royale Pillow Top
What it is: A medium (3/6) or medium firm (4/6) pillowtop pocket spring mattress filled with Red Tractor Assured British Wool, Talalay Latex, Solotexâ„¢ sustainable fibre, eOlusâ„¢ recycled fibre and an 800gsm cotton layer. The spring system is the Hypnos ReActiveProâ„¢ 6-Turn Pocket Spring. The mattress is hand tufted, finished with 3 rows of hand side stitching, and covered in unbleached cotton and viscose with an M-Pure natural fire retardant treatment. Depth is 34cm.
How it helps you: The pillowtop layer delivers a body-hugging softness on entry, while the 6-turn pocket springs provide responsive, independent support beneath. British Wool and Talalay Latex regulate temperature year-round. Triple Edge Protectionâ„¢ extends the sleeping surface to the very edge. This is a no-turn mattress. Rotate head to toe regularly to extend lifespan.

The silver castors lift the bed off the ground. Total depth figures above are base depth plus the 34cm Astoria Royale mattress.
Vs bed frames: A divan set sits lower to the floor and has a more minimal visible profile than most bed frames. The base is fully upholstered with no exposed legs or joints. Crucially, this set includes the mattress - bed frame buyers purchase their mattress separately. Bed frames offer more design variety but no integrated base support for the mattress. If you want a finished, cohesive sleep package without additional decisions, a divan set is the simpler, better-supported choice.
Vs other Hypnos divan sets in the range: The Astoria Royale Pillow Top sits in the upper-mid tier of the Hypnos range. It uses the 6-turn ReActiveProâ„¢ pocket spring system rather than the 8-turn version found in the very top Hypnos models, but shares the same handcrafted construction, foam-free ethos, and natural filling philosophy. The combination of Talalay Latex, British Wool, Solotexâ„¢, eOlusâ„¢ and a cotton layer gives this model a notably deep and varied comfort stack for its price point. Customers stepping up from a basic Hypnos divan will notice the difference immediately.
Vs premium and luxury ranges: The Astoria Royale Pillow Top shares the same handcrafted construction, foam-free natural fillings, and pocket spring technology found in higher-end Hypnos models. The distinction typically lies in the depth of the comfort layers, the spring turn count, and the range of fillings rather than any compromise in quality or craftsmanship. If you want Hypnos's signature feel and build without stepping into their top-tier pricing, this is a well-considered place to start.
The Hypnos Astoria Royale Pillow Top Divan Set is backed by Hypnos's 10-year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship, covering both the base and the included mattress. Built by hand in Great Britain using natural fillings, a genuine Hypnos base, and a single continuous pocket spring system, this is a sleep set made to last - the guarantee reflects exactly that.
Hypnos Royal Warrant Holder - Hypnos has held a Royal Warrant since 1929, supplying beds to the British Royal Household. It is a standard of craftsmanship that has to be earned and maintained over generations.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing. When the NBF approves a product, it means the materials, construction and practices behind it have all been scrutinised.
Made in Britain - Independently certified confirmation that every Astoria Royale Divan Set is manufactured in the UK by skilled craftspeople.
Red Tractor Assured - The British wool used in this mattress comes from farms certified under the Red Tractor scheme, covering animal welfare, environmental protection, and full supply chain traceability. You know exactly where the materials come from.
The Astoria Royale Pillow Top Divan Set delivers a complete handcrafted sleep package: responsive natural support, genuine pillowtop comfort, breathable foam-free construction, and flexible storage - all backed by Hypnos's 10-year guarantee. Whether you are a side sleeper, share a bed, or want a set that breathes and performs year after year, this is one of the most complete packages in the Hypnos range.
