A handcrafted, foam-free turnable medium pocket spring mattress made exclusively for Land of Beds, featuring Hypnos's ReActiveâ„¢ 7-Turn spring, Red Tractor Assured British Wool, certified organic cotton and eOlusâ„¢ sustainable fibre fillings, a Belgian Damask cover and a medium (3/6) feel for balanced natural comfort and support.
Medium Feel - 3/6: The goldilocks option - not too firm, not too soft. Medium is the most versatile firmness level, balancing comfort and support in a way that suits most sleeper types.
Best for
Not ideal for
ReActiveâ„¢ 7-Turn Pocket Spring System
What it is: Hypnos's pocket spring system with 7 active turns per spring. Each spring is a single continuous coil that moves independently, responding to your body weight and position with greater sensitivity than a 6-turn spring.
How it helps you sleep: The additional turn per spring increases the spring's ability to detect and respond to the exact support requirement at each point on your body. Minimal motion transfer between sleeping partners, and the open spring structure drives air through the mattress to regulate temperature and keep it fresh on both sides of this turnable design.
Red Tractor Assured British Wool
What it is: A natural upholstery filling sourced from farms certified under the Red Tractor scheme, covering animal welfare, traceability and environmental standards throughout the supply chain.
How it helps you sleep: A natural insulator that keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter by regulating body temperature and wicking moisture away as you sleep - working effectively on both sides of this turnable mattress.
Organic Cotton Layer
What it is: A certified organic cotton layer grown entirely without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, on soil that has been chemical-free for at least three years. It meets rigorous international standards for responsible agricultural production.
How it helps you sleep: Adds a naturally breathable and responsive comfort layer that efficiently absorbs moisture and promotes airflow. Free from harmful chemical residues, it is a considered choice for allergy sufferers and those who prefer materials with a clean supply chain.
eOlusâ„¢ Sustainable Fibre
What it is: A comfort layer made from repurposed polymer bottles that would otherwise go to landfill. Its vertically crimped structure creates natural air channels through the fibre.
How it helps you sleep: Actively circulates air and wicks away moisture more efficiently than foam, helping to regulate body temperature throughout the night while keeping the mattress fresh on both sleeping sides.
Belgian Damask Cover
What it is: A soft-to-touch cover woven from certified sustainable cotton yarn and viscose in a damask construction, providing a smooth, fresh and hygienic sleeping surface.
How it helps you sleep: The breathable cover complements the natural wool and organic cotton fillings beneath, providing a comfortable and clean sleeping environment on both sides of this turnable mattress.
Hand Tufting
What it is: A traditional upholstery technique where tufts are hand-stitched from the top of the mattress to the bottom, securing all comfort layers in place.
How it helps you sleep: Keeps the wool, cotton and eOlusâ„¢ fillings evenly distributed and prevents them from shifting over time, so the mattress maintains consistent comfort and shape on both sides night after night.
2 Rows of Hand Side Stitching
What it is: Senior upholsterers use long needles and twine to hand-stitch the outer springs to the mattress border at both the top and bottom.
How it helps you sleep: Strengthens the edges, prevents spring distortion, and extends the sleeping area right to the border - one of the most labour-intensive finishes in traditional mattress making.
Optional Origins Deluxe Comfort Layer
What it is: A separately purchased topper available as an optional add-on, adding 7cm to the overall mattress depth. It contains Red Tractor Assured British Wool, Solotexâ„¢ and eOlusâ„¢ fillings, covered in a chemical-free Belgian Damask with certified sustainable cotton and European Flax fibres. It is 100% recyclable.
How it helps you sleep: The topper adds a further layer of natural wool comfort that enhances the feel of the mattress and can help extend its lifespan. It is not included in the mattress price - see the product page for pricing and availability.

Vs firmer models: The Burford Supreme's medium (3/6) tension provides more cushioning and pressure relief than a firm mattress, making it better suited to side sleepers and combination sleepers who need the mattress to adapt to different body positions. Firm options suit heavier sleepers or those who specifically need a more rigid sleeping surface.
Vs softer models: The Burford Supreme provides genuine structural support through the ReActiveâ„¢ 7-turn spring alongside the surface comfort of natural wool and organic cotton fillings. For back and combination sleepers who want balanced support, this is a more able choice than a soft mattress. Softer models suit very lightweight sleepers or those who prefer maximum pressure relief over support.
Vs other Hypnos medium mattresses in the range: The Burford Supreme is one of the most naturally specified medium mattresses in the Hypnos range at Land of Beds, combining the higher-turn ReActiveâ„¢ 7-Turn spring with both Red Tractor Assured British Wool and certified organic cotton in a single turnable product. The wool provides natural temperature regulation that sets it apart from medium models using synthetic fillings only. The turnable double-sided construction also adds longevity. An optional Origins Deluxe Comfort Layer is available separately for those who want to further deepen the natural wool comfort over time.
The Hypnos Burford Supreme is backed by Hypnos's free 10-year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. Handcrafted in Britain with Red Tractor Assured British Wool, certified organic cotton, eOlusâ„¢ sustainable fibre and a traditional turnable double-sided design, this is a mattress built with lasting performance in mind - the guarantee reflects that.
Hypnos Royal Warrant Holder - Hypnos has held a Royal Warrant since 1929, supplying beds to the British Royal Household. It is a standard of craftsmanship that has to be earned and maintained over generations.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing. Not every mattress brand carries this approval.
Made in Britain - Independently certified confirmation that the Burford Supreme is manufactured in the UK, by Hypnos's fourth- and fifth-generation craftsmen.
The Hypnos Burford Supreme brings together Hypnos's ReActiveâ„¢ 7-Turn spring with Red Tractor Assured British Wool, certified organic cotton and eOlusâ„¢ sustainable fibre in a handcrafted turnable design - 100% foam-free, fully recyclable and backed by a 10-year guarantee. For those who want a medium mattress with genuine natural credentials and the longevity of a double-sided construction, this is a strong choice.
