The Willow Grey is a single-over-single fabric bunk bed from Land of Beds, built on a poplar wood frame and upholstered in soft grey velvet for a look that feels more like a piece of furniture than a traditional bunk. Both bunks use a solid wooden slatted base and accept standard UK single mattresses up to 19cm deep on the top bunk, with the lower bunk set low to the floor for easy access, making it a practical choice for younger children who are not yet ready for the top bunk. It arrives flat packed in 3 boxes, is BS EN747 certified for bunk bed safety, and requires self-assembly - mattresses are not included.
A grey velvet upholstered single-over-single bunk bed on a poplar wood frame, with a solid slatted base, a full-length top bunk guard rail, a fixed side-mounted ladder, and a low-set lower bunk - designed for children sharing a room who want a softer, more contemporary look than a traditional painted or wood-effect frame.

Worth Knowing
Poplar Wood Frame with Velvet Upholstery
What it is: A bunk bed frame constructed from poplar wood, fully upholstered in soft grey velvet fabric.
How it helps you: Poplar gives the frame a sturdy, durable structure that's built to handle the daily use of a children's bed, while the velvet upholstery brings a softer, more contemporary look than a painted or wood-effect finish - it works as well in a stylish shared bedroom as it does in a traditional one.
Solid Wooden Slatted Base
What it is: A set of rigid wooden slats spanning the full width of each bunk, spaced 7cm apart.
How it helps you: The firm, even support is well suited to children's mattresses, and the open spacing between slats lets air circulate beneath the mattress to keep it fresh.
Fixed Ladder
What it is: A fixed wooden ladder, side-mounted to the frame.
How it helps you: The fixed position means the ladder cannot slip or be moved accidentally, giving children a stable, secure route up to the top bunk.
Top Bunk Guard Rail
What it is: A full-length side rail running the length of the top bunk sleeping area, designed to prevent a child from rolling out during sleep.
How it helps you: The guard rail provides a physical barrier that reduces the risk of falls from the top bunk - it is designed to be used with a mattress no deeper than 19cm, which keeps the effective rail height within the safety specification.
Low-Set Lower Bunk
What it is: The lower bunk is positioned close to the floor rather than at standard bed height.
How it helps you: Reduces the risk of injury for younger or smaller children climbing in and out, and makes the lower bunk a more comfortable option for a child not yet ready for the top bunk.

Vs mid sleepers: A mid sleeper has an elevated single bunk with usable space beneath - usually a desk, pull-out bed, or storage - but sleeps only one child. The Willow Grey sleeps two in a similar vertical footprint. If you need to sleep two children in one room, the Willow Grey is the more space-efficient choice. If you need a workstation or play area beneath the bed for one child, a mid sleeper is the better fit.
Vs high sleepers: A high sleeper raises a single bed to a greater height than a mid sleeper, with a full workstation, sofa, or wardrobe underneath. It sleeps one child and suits teenagers who want a dedicated study or lounge space. The Willow Grey prioritises sleeping capacity over under-bed functionality. If sleeping two is the goal, the Willow Grey delivers it more directly.
The Willow Grey brings a softer, more contemporary look to a shared children's room, with grey velvet upholstery over a sturdy poplar wood frame, a full-length top bunk guard rail, and a low-set lower bunk that's easier for younger children to climb into. It's a practical two-in-one sleeping solution for children sharing a room, without the painted or wood-effect look of a traditional bunk bed.
