Best for
Not ideal for
3000 Pocket Spring System
What it is: 3000 individually encased pocket springs, each moving independently in response to body weight and position.
How it helps you sleep: Targeted support that follows your shape without transferring movement to your partner. The open spring structure also promotes airflow through the mattress, helping regulate temperature through the night.
Pashmina and Wool Fillings
What it is: A comfort layer combining Pashmina - an ultra-fine, exceptionally soft natural fibre - with naturally insulating wool.
How it helps you sleep: Pashmina is even softer than cashmere, while wool regulates temperature and wicks moisture. Together they create a naturally breathable, luxuriously comfortable sleeping layer that keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter.
Silk and Bamboo Fillings
What it is: Fine silk fibres blended with naturally antibacterial bamboo, both positioned within the comfort layers.
How it helps you sleep: Silk regulates temperature and adds a sumptuous softness, while bamboo wicks moisture and resists bacteria - together they help maintain a fresh, dry, comfortable sleeping surface.
Hypoallergenic Layer
What it is: A dedicated layer of sterilised, dust-free hypoallergenic fibre beneath the mattress cover.
How it helps you sleep: Creates a protective barrier against dust mites and allergens, making the Splendour Ortho a sound choice for allergy and asthma sufferers.
3 Rows Perimeter Springs - Edge Support
What it is: Three rows of firm perimeter springs running around the outer edge of the mattress.
How it helps you sleep: Extends the full sleeping surface right to the edge, so you can use every centimetre of the mattress without the sensation of rolling off. Particularly useful for couples sharing the bed.
2 Rows Hand Side Stitching
What it is: A traditional hand-sewn technique where skilled upholsterers use long needles and twine to stitch the outer springs to the mattress border.
How it helps you sleep: Prevents spring distortion at the sides, strengthens the border, and extends the sleeping area to the very edge of the mattress for consistent support across the full surface.
Tufted Wool Cover
What it is: A 100% Viscose tufted cover secured with traditional wool tufts to keep the fillings evenly distributed.
How it helps you sleep: Tufting ensures the luxury natural fillings stay in place and settle consistently, maintaining even comfort across the sleeping surface and preventing lumps from forming over time.
Chrome Air Vents
What it is: Chrome-finished ventilation eyelets set into the sides of the mattress.
How it helps you sleep: Promotes continuous air circulation throughout the mattress, helping regulate temperature and maintaining a fresh, dry sleep environment.

Vs firm models: The Splendour Ortho sits at the firmest point of the tension scale at 6/6. If you are on the boundary between firm and extra firm, the Splendour Ortho offers maximum support with minimal sink - the right choice if you sleep on your front, are a heavier sleeper, or simply need a very firm surface to feel properly supported. A firm (5/6) option will give slightly more give at the surface while still providing excellent support for back and front sleepers.
Vs softer models: The Splendour Ortho is not designed for pressure relief at the shoulders and hips. Side sleepers and lighter sleepers will find a medium or soft tension far more comfortable. The Splendour Ortho is built specifically for those who need maximum support and a very flat, level sleeping surface.
Vs premium luxury ranges: The Splendour Ortho shares many of the same high-quality natural fillings - Pashmina, wool, silk and bamboo - found in more expensive ranges. The distinction is the firmness profile: this mattress is built for orthopaedic support rather than indulgent comfort, so the filling layers are designed to complement the firm spring tension rather than add deep cushioning. For the same quality of natural materials in a softer tension, explore the wider Splendour range.
The Splendour Ortho is backed by a 5 year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. Made in West Yorkshire from high-quality natural fillings and a 3000-count pocket spring system, this is a mattress built to last - the guarantee reflects that confidence.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing. NBF approval means the Splendour Ortho has been assessed against independently set criteria - it is not a self-awarded badge.
Made in Britain - The Splendour Ortho is manufactured in West Yorkshire, Great Britain. British-made construction means quality control at every stage of the process.
The Splendour Ortho delivers something genuinely difficult to find: extra firm orthopaedic support combined with luxury natural fillings and a completely foam-free construction, handcrafted in West Yorkshire and exclusive to Land of Beds. If you sleep on your front, share a bed with a restless partner, or simply need a very firm, supportive surface to wake up without aches, this is the mattress to consider.

Is the Splendour Ortho suitable for side sleepers?
No. The Splendour Ortho is an extra firm (6/6) mattress, which means it offers very little cushioning at the shoulders and hips. Side sleepers generally need a softer tension to relieve pressure points and keep the spine aligned. If you sleep on your side, we'd recommend exploring our medium or soft mattress range instead.
What does extra firm actually feel like?
Extra firm is our firmest tension (6/6). There is minimal sink when you lie down - the surface stays flat and supportive rather than contouring around you. It is not uncomfortable, but it is a very solid, flat feel. Most people who prefer extra firm are front sleepers, heavier sleepers, or those who find softer mattresses leave them with lower back pain in the morning.
Does the Splendour Ortho contain any foam?
No - it is completely foam-free. The comfort layers are made entirely from natural fillings: Pashmina, wool, silk, bamboo and a hypoallergenic fibre layer. The spring system is a 3000-count pocket spring unit. There are no foam layers anywhere in the construction.
Is the Splendour Ortho good for people with allergies?
Yes. The mattress includes a dedicated hypoallergenic layer beneath the cover, which creates a barrier against dust mites and common allergens. The natural fillings - including bamboo, which is naturally antibacterial - also contribute to a cleaner sleeping environment. It is a good choice for allergy and asthma sufferers.
Do I need to flip this mattress?
Yes. The Splendour Ortho is a double-sided mattress, which means it can and should be flipped as well as rotated. We recommend flipping and rotating head to toe every three months. This ensures even wear across both sides and helps the fillings settle consistently, extending the life of the mattress.
What is the maximum weight for the Splendour Ortho?
The Splendour Ortho is rated to a maximum of 114kg (18st) per side. The extra firm tension and 3000-count spring system make it well-suited to heavier sleepers who need robust support and durability.
Will I feel my partner moving during the night?
Partner disturbance is significantly reduced on the Splendour Ortho because of the 3000 individually wrapped pocket springs. Each spring moves independently, so movement on one side of the mattress is largely isolated and not transferred to the other side.
What bed bases is the Splendour Ortho compatible with?
The Splendour Ortho works with slatted bed frames where the slats are no more than 7cm apart, and with divan bases. Solid platform top divan bases and sprung divan bases are both suitable. If your slats are wider than 7cm, a solid base or a slatted base insert is recommended to avoid uneven support and premature wear.
How long is the guarantee?
The Splendour Ortho comes with a 5 year manufacturer's guarantee covering defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover normal wear, misuse, or damage caused by an unsuitable base.
Where is the Splendour Ortho made?
The Splendour Ortho is handcrafted in West Yorkshire, Great Britain, and is exclusive to Land of Beds.
