The Charlbury Deluxe is a hand-tufted pocket spring mattress from Sleepeezee, made exclusively for Land of Beds and designed specifically for use on an adjustable base. It's built around 1000 individually wrapped pocket springs with a British wool comfort layer and deep polyester upholstery fillings beneath a soft Belgian Damask cover, finished with three rows of hand side stitching and flag-stitched handles. The result is a medium-feel mattress that flexes and contours with an adjustable frame, cushioning pressure points while keeping its shape and support night after night. It carries NBF Approval, Planet Mark Sustainability Certification and Sleepeezee's Royal Warrant, and is backed by a 10-year guarantee.
A medium tension pocket spring adjustable bed mattress with British wool and polyester fillings, best suited to sleepers who want an all-rounder support level, effective moisture-wicking comfort and minimal partner disturbance.
Medium Feel - 3/6: The Goldilocks option - not too firm, not too soft. Medium is the most versatile firmness level, balancing comfort and support in a way that suits most sleeper types.
Best for
Not ideal for
Pocket Spring System
What it is: 1000 individually wrapped springs, each responding independently to your body weight and position.
How it helps you sleep: Tailored support that follows your shape, with minimal motion transfer between sleeping partners - and because each spring moves on its own, the mattress can flex with an adjustable base without losing support.
British Wool Layer
What it is: A soft, insulating upholstery layer of British wool positioned beneath the cover.
How it helps you sleep: A natural insulator that helps regulate temperature, keeping you cooler in summer and warmer in winter, while its hygroscopic properties help draw moisture away from the body overnight.
Polyester Upholstery Fillings
What it is: Deep layers of polyester fillings providing structure beneath the wool comfort layer.
How it helps you sleep: Adds durability and firm underlying support, helping the mattress hold its shape night after night.
Belgian Damask Cover
What it is: A soft-to-the-touch damask cover, made from a 41% polyester, 59% cotton blend.
How it helps you sleep: Provides a soft, fresh and hygienic sleeping surface that feels pleasant against the skin.
Hand-Tufted Finish
What it is: A traditional upholstery method where fillings are secured by hand with tufts from the top of the mattress to the bottom.
How it helps you sleep: Keeps loose fillings securely in place, helping the mattress maintain its shape and comfort over time.
3 Rows of Hand Side Stitching
What it is: Three rows of reinforced hand stitching around the mattress border.
How it helps you sleep: Extends the supportive sleeping area right to the edge of the mattress, so you can use the full width without it feeling like it's giving way.
Flag-Stitched Handles and Chrome Air Vents
What it is: Handles on both sides of the mattress, along with chrome-finished side air vents.
How it helps you sleep: The handles make positioning the mattress easier, while the air vents allow it to breathe, helping maintain a fresh and dry sleeping environment.

Vs firmer mattresses: The pocket spring and wool comfort layer give noticeably more pressure relief at the shoulders and hips than a firmer mattress. If you sleep on your side, share a bed, or want an all-rounder tension for your adjustable base, this is likely the better choice. Firmer mattresses suit heavier sleepers or those who want a more rigid, supportive surface.
Vs softer mattresses: This mattress has more structural support underneath its comfort layers than a softer option. Softer mattresses can feel more immediately plush but may not maintain spinal alignment as consistently - especially for combination sleepers, or when flexed on an adjustable base.
Vs premium and luxury mattresses: This mattress shares the same hand-tufted construction and pocket spring technology as higher-priced options in the range. The difference typically lies in the depth and range of comfort layers, rather than any compromise in quality or craftsmanship.
The Charlbury Deluxe is backed by Sleepeezee's 10-year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. Given the quality of materials and the hand-tufted construction, this is a mattress built to last - the guarantee reflects that.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing.
Sleepeezee Royal Warrant Holder - Sleepeezee is a Royal Warrant holder, a standard of craftsmanship recognised by the British Royal Household.
Planet Mark Sustainability Certification - An independently verified certification demonstrating a measurable commitment to reducing carbon emissions year on year.
The Charlbury Deluxe delivers a genuinely comfortable, all-round feel: responsive pocket spring support, breathable natural wool, and hand-tufted British craftsmanship - all backed by a 10-year guarantee. If you already own a compatible adjustable base and want to upgrade the mattress on top of it, this is a straightforward, well-supported choice.

So much cooler than my previous adjustable bed mattress. Slightly disappointed that the mattress doesn’t spring up much after sleeping in it but I guess that’s because there’s not memory foam in it. The coolness was my primary reason for getting so I’m happy !
