Worth knowing:
Sprung Divan Base or Firm Edge Sprung Divan Base
What it is: Two base options are available, both built on a frame of slow-grown Scandinavian Spruce and containing 720 hand-nested pocket springs. The Sprung Divan Base has a traditional pocket sprung construction throughout. The Firm Edge Sprung Divan Base adds reinforced edge support around the perimeter.
How it helps you: The Sprung Divan Base gives a softer, more cushioned feel that helps absorb pressure and enhance the mattress above it. The Firm Edge Sprung Divan Base adds a more stable sleeping surface and easier access in and out of bed. Both are genuine Vispring bases covered by the full 30-year guarantee.
Natural Fibre Base Layers
What it is: Naturally breathable layers of coir fibre blended with Platinum Certified British Fleece Wool and cotton, built into the base beneath the upholstery.
How it helps you: Improves airflow and helps regulate temperature within the base itself, working in harmony with the mattress above to enhance overall comfort and support.
Storage Options
What it is: Storage configurations available: non storage; 2 full size drawers; 4 full size drawers; 2+2 Continental drawers.
How it helps you: Soft-close drawers keep spare blankets and bedding tidy and easily accessible without disturbing the mattress above, and the soft-close mechanism prevents noise disruption at night.
The Included Mattress: Vispring Devonshire
What it is: A natural fillings pocket spring mattress available in Soft, Medium, Firm or Extra Firm tension, built around 1326 hand-nested pocket springs and three layers of Platinum Certified British Fleece and Devonshire Wool. The mattress is hand-tufted with felt washers and finished with 2 rows of genuine hand side stitching and Tape Edging.
How it helps you: The choice of four tensions means you can genuinely tailor the feel to your preferred sleeping position, while the hand-nested pocket springs and natural wool fillings work together to regulate temperature and reduce partner disturbance. This is a double-sided mattress that should be turned seasonally, every 3-4 months, to extend its lifespan.

Vs bed frames: A divan set sits lower to the floor than most bed frames and has a fully upholstered, minimal profile with no exposed legs or joints. The set includes a genuinely sprung base and matched mattress, whereas bed frame buyers choose their mattress separately and rely on slats for support. Bed frames offer more visual design variety, but no integrated, sprung base support beneath the mattress.
Vs other divan sets in this price range: At this level, you're paying for genuine hand craftsmanship rather than a factory-assembled base and mattress. The Devonshire's base uses 720 of Vispring's own hand-nested pocket springs on a Scandinavian Spruce frame, and the mattress above it is filled with three separate layers of Platinum Certified wool rather than a single comfort layer. The 30-year guarantee, covering both base and mattress, is also considerably longer than most divan sets offer at a lower price point.
Vs premium and luxury divan ranges: The Devonshire shares the same hand-nested pocket spring construction and natural fillings used across Vispring's full range. The difference between this and Vispring's higher-tier collections is typically in the number of wool layers and total spring count, rather than any compromise in the base construction or craftsmanship.
The Vispring Devonshire Divan Bed is backed by Vispring's 30-year manufacturer's guarantee, covering both the base and the mattress against defects in materials and workmanship. Given the quality of the hand-nested spring systems in both the base and mattress, and the Platinum Certified wool fillings throughout, this is a sleep set built to be used for decades - the guarantee reflects that.
The Vispring Devonshire Divan Bed has received 5 accreditations, including:
The Vispring Devonshire Divan Bed delivers a genuinely matched sleep set: a handcrafted sprung base and a four-tension natural fillings mattress, both built in Britain and backed by a 30-year guarantee covering the entire set. If you want a base and mattress chosen to work together rather than paired by guesswork, this is one to consider.
