Worth knowing:
Sprung Divan Base or Firm Edge Sprung Divan Base
What it is: Two base options are available, both built from slow-grown Scandinavian Spruce. The Sprung Divan Base contains 950 hand nested pocket springs beneath the upholstery for a softer, cushioned feel. The Firm Edge Sprung Divan Base uses the same pocket springs with a reinforced edge for a more stable perimeter.
How it helps you: The Sprung Divan Base helps absorb pressure and enhance mattress comfort from below. The Firm Edge Sprung Divan Base adds improved durability and makes it easier to sit on and rise from the edge of the bed. Both options are genuine Vispring bases covered by the full 30-year guarantee.
950 Hand Nested Pocket Springs
What it is: Vispring's own hand nested pocket springs, built into the base and worked in the same honeycomb pattern used in the mattress above.
How it helps you: Maximises the support offered by the base and works in harmony with the Shetland mattress, helping to extend the mattress's lifespan and giving you a genuinely responsive foundation.
Natural Layers
What it is: Naturally breathable layers of coir fibre blended with Platinum Certified British fleece wool and cotton, built into the base upholstery.
How it helps you: Enhances comfort, improves airflow and helps regulate temperature from below, contributing to a fresher night's sleep on top of the mattress.
Storage Options
What it is: Storage configurations available: non-storage; 2 full size drawers; 4 full size drawers; 2+2 Continental Drawers. Drawers are soft-close and crafted from solid beech with dovetail joints.
How it helps you: Soft-close drawers give easy daily access to spare blankets and sheets without disturbing the bedroom, and the solid beech dovetail construction is built for long-term, everyday use. Allow clear floor space on the drawer side when ordering a drawer model.
The Included Mattress: Vispring Shetland
What it is: A handcrafted, foam-free pocket spring mattress filled with Platinum Certified Shetland Wool and British Fleece Wool. The spring system is Vispring's own 1720 Hand Nested Pocket Spring. The mattress is hand tufted with felt washers, finished with 3 rows of hand side stitching and tape edging, and covered in a 100% pure wool cover treated with the natural M-Pure fire retardant. Depth is 27cm, and it's available in Soft, Medium, Firm or Extra Firm tension.
How it helps you: The hand nested pocket springs respond independently to your body, while Platinum Certified wool regulates temperature year-round. This is a double-sided, seasonal turn mattress - flip and rotate head to toe every 3-4 months to extend its lifespan.

The chrome castors are 7cm high, lifting the base 7cm off the ground. The upholstered base itself is 32cm deep.
Vs bed frames: A divan set sits lower to the floor and has a more minimal visible profile than most bed frames, with a fully upholstered base and no exposed legs or joints. This Vispring set includes the mattress, whereas bed frame buyers purchase their mattress separately. Bed frames offer more design variety but no integrated sprung base support for the mattress.
Vs other divan sets in this price range: This set sits at the top of the divan market. Where cheaper divan bases typically use a simple platform top or a basic open coil spring unit, this set pairs a genuinely sprung Vispring base - built with 950 hand nested pocket springs and natural fibre fillings - with the equally handcrafted Shetland mattress above it, plus a 30-year guarantee covering both.
Vs premium and luxury divan ranges: This set shares the same hand nested pocket spring technology, natural wool fillings and hand-finished construction found in Vispring's higher-priced ranges. The difference between ranges of this type is typically in the gsm weight of the wool fillings and the spring count used, rather than any compromise in base quality or craftsmanship.
The Vispring Shetland Divan Bed is backed by Vispring's 30-year manufacturer's guarantee, covering both the base and the mattress against defects in materials and workmanship. Given the quality of the hand nested springs and the handcrafted, natural-fillings construction throughout, this is a bed built to last a lifetime of use - the guarantee reflects that confidence.
The Vispring Shetland Divan Bed has received the following awards and accreditations, including:
The Vispring Shetland Divan Bed delivers a rare combination: a genuinely sprung, handcrafted base paired with a foam-free, hand nested pocket spring mattress - all made in Britain and backed by a 30-year guarantee covering both. If you want a complete sleep set that's tailored to your preferred tension and needs integrated storage, this is one to consider.

As with all mattresses, there may be a slight smell when first opened. We liken this to a new car smell, which is non-harmful and will disappear within a few hours.
This is a seasonal turn mattress which means you need to turn and rotate the mattress. You should rotate it from head to toe monthly and turner over every six months - a good way to remember to turn your mattress is when the clocks changes.
